Mac compatibility is the bane of Apple owners’ existence. Luckily, printers are rarely affected by this issue. Still, that doesn’t mean some are not better than others. Of course, some are also cheaper than others. Know your budget.
1) Canon Pixma MG5650
Canon are a trusted brand for a reason. At £99, they’re also affordable. This all-in-one model takes 5 separate inks, as opposed to the 4 which some models favour. This means a higher colour range and quality. The ink cartridges are included when bought from sites such as Ink Express and these kind of cartridges are easy to replace and not too expensive.
2) Epson Expression XP-412
Should aesthetics be your thing (and they probably are, given what Macs look like), Epson have you covered. While it is not the sleek aluminium and glass, Epson’s compact all-in-one still offers design. There is also a display screen to aid when printing photos and an easily navigated menu. As it’s small, it won’t be too difficult to find a place for in your home or office.
3) Canon iP2850
This is one of the cheapest good quality printers on the market. If you just need a printer for exactly that, you should have no problems. However, if you think you will need photocopies and scans at any point, it is not the right choice for you. It has strictly one purpose. Still, it’s good at its sole job. However, it’s major disadvantage is that it requires a wire to communicate with your computer. That doesn’t go too well with the sleek lines.
4) HP Officejet Pro 8620
It’s not exactly the prettiest machine on the market, but it’s undeniably functional. As is expected for a £160 (roughly) price-tag, it’s an all-in-one. Its price also includes AirPrint, perfect for any of your Apple devices. You don’t need to worry about if there’s enough paper, it will hold about 250 sheets. Yes, it looks like a miniature version of the beasts in offices, but you can’t argue with results.
5) Epson WorkForce WF-7610DWF
If you want to expand your photo portfolio (literally), Epson have you covered. Their machine will allow A3 sheets to be emblazoned with whatever design you choose. Ideal for if you want to test a magazine design or just feel A4 doesn’t do your work justice. Aside from that, it’s an all-in-one with touchscreen display. Not bad when you’re in the £130 range.
